DIY Comfort Parcels.

DIY Comfort Parcels.

Daylights Savings Time is upon us. I thrive in light and warmth and become a bit of a recluse once the days shorten. That feeling seems amplified this year with additional uncertainty and isolation.

Nothing snaps me out of a funk like an easy "come together" DIY project. Enter, the "comfort parcel". It's especially fun to customize it to whatever you have lying around. Lavender and rose for dresser drawers. Eucalyptus and rosemary are wonderful for a stuffy nose. Mulling Spice for the trash or compost area is a welcome delight. These little parcels really pack a punch where you need it.

DIY Comfort Parcels

  • Muslin Cotton Bags*
  • Rice
  • Plant Materials (rose petals, lavender, bay leaf, eucalyptus, etc.) -OR-
  • Mulling Spice Blend*
  • Essential Oil

Open your cotton bag and fold down; set aside. In a small bowl, use about 6-8 tablespoons of rice to 2-3 teaspoons of herbal material (or spice blend). Add about 10-15 drops of EO and mix well. Place inside your cotton bag, knot it and tie it off securely.

For instance, in one batch I used rice, rose petals, lavender along with a few drops of Eucalyptus and Lavender EO. In the other batch, I used rice, Mulling Spice Blend, bay leaf and Orange EO.

Yield: Approximately (3) parcels.

I hope you get a chance to make these as gifts for yourself and your loved ones and that it brings comfort when you need it most.

Be Well.

Tammy
