Is sangria season officially over on Labor Day? If so, I'm silently crying into my wine glass. It has become a welcome tradition on Friday afternoon to start a pitcher of sangria and sip on it all weekend long. Oh well...as we fast forward into shorter days and cooler evenings, a glass of Mulled Wine or Cider is definitely on our list of things to unwind with.
*This dish highlights our Mulling Spice Blend found on our site.*
Mulled Wine with Citrus, Persimmon and Cherries
- 1 gallon red wine (also delicious with cider)
- 2 tbsp. organic sugar
- 2 tbsp. Mulling Spice (sold on www.glassjarnaturaltea.com)
- 6 slices dried oranges
- 6 slices dried persimmon
- Generous handful dried cherries
Add Mulled Spice Blend to cotton muslin bag (also sold on site) or cheesecloth. Combine all ingredients in large pot and simmer on low/medium heat for 45 minutes or so. Strain the fruits and spices; store in the frig until ready to use.
Mulled Wine Cocktail
- 4 oz. mulled wine
- 1 oz. brandy
- 1 oz. triple sec
- Ginger Beer
- Ice
Add first three ingredients into a large glass or jar. Shake or stir gently; add ice. Top with ginger beer.
Cheers!
